Five Months Later

Holy cow! So...it has been awhile since we've updated our blog. We have been so busy with Thomas, work and school! Here are a few things that have happened since we last posted:

Thomas' Birthday!!!

Grandma and Grandpa Reichert, Uncle Adam and Oma came over, we made sloppy joes and fish sticks (Tommy's favorite!) He learned how to say balloon that weekend and would not stop chasing them around the house, it was pretty fun to watch.

The amazing cake that we made. Tommy sampled the frosting.

Classy gentleman!

He got a ton of presents! He loved the wrapping paper more than anything though. The good news is that he no longer eats the paper, hooray for progress!

Helping to clean up his mess...what a ham!

EASTER!!!

We had a relatively mellow Easter. Phil made breakfast while Tommy and I explored his easter basket! Not to worry, we helped dispose of the candy :D

Scoping out the goods.

This is our day to day entertainment. Who needs movies?

After he was bored with the grass, we played with his bubbles (another word he can now say - he's really good with the "B" words). Afterwards, we ate pancakes and eggs and spent the rest of our Sunday relaxing.

THE GREAT ESCAPE!

For Mother's day, Phil took me to Salt Lake City to see a band that I love. The concert was amazing, but the best part was taking a look around town. If you've never been, it's worth a trip. Neither of us is very religious, but it was still a lot of fun touring Temple Square. Phil found a Scottish heritage store and purchased a MacDonald family crest and scarf. It was the perfect getaway.

The most beautiful park, there were flowers everywhere!

Everyone was friendly, almost too friendly. One couple spent 15 minutes talking to us about the area. I was the navigator, Phil took all the shots (which explains why they were mostly out of focus).

GIANT! The wishing/prayer pool in front of the temple was pretty neat too, we stopped and had lunch there. The smell of flowers was everywhere!

Phil was impressed that we were able to get a bottle of wine sent to our room in such a conservative area. FYI - while the suites are pretty small, I highly recommend the Radisson for their breakfast buffet alone. It was terrific, and the perfect way to say goodbye to Salt Lake.

SUMMER TIME!!!

While Phil was busy grumbling and lathering up in 1 million SPF sunscreen, us non-red headed folk were pretty excited! The weather here has been pretty mild and wet, so we've had to plan our trips carefully. We've spent at least one day a week at the park. They have an amazing area in northern Meridian where the regular park and jungle gym doubles as a water park and outdoor movie theater. We just went and saw Babe the other night. Thomas learned what doggies are and he learned how to bark while staying at Oma's. So, when he saw the dog in Babe he spent the following five minutes barking. Luckily everyone around us thought it was cute!

We also went to the Boise Zoo. I think Phil and I had a little more fun than Thomas. He was mostly interested in eating lunch and playing with the vegetation that lined the pathways. Maybe he'll be a bit more excited next year.

I'll try my best to keep up with the blog. We know, that for a lot of you, this is one of the few ways to access information about what's happening in this neck of the woods. Thanks for being patient, we love you all, take care!

January 20th...ALREADY!

We hope everyone had a fantastic new year. It's crazy to think that Thomas is already 9 months old. On top of that, we have huge news. He's WALKING!!! He took his first step at exactly 9 months and he's now taking 3 or 4 steps at a time. We had his 9 month check up and the pediatrician said that despite the fact he's only in the 50th percentile for his weight and the 75th for his height, he is in the 90th percentile for the size of his head!!! What a weirdo :D I've posted a few more photos below...enjoy!

Merry Christmas!

Hey everyone!
Seasons greetings, we hope this post finds you well. I expect everyone is probably busy shopping, making cookies and finishing up with all of the decorations at this point. We've been busy too! The house is decorated; we put up the tree and wrapped all our presents. Phil is in the process of creating a Christmas letter to mail out. Knowing how much he loves to wait until the last minute, you can probably expect it sometime around New Years. I've posted some photos of Thomas and a picture of our tree below. Tommy's eight months old now, can you believe it!? He's working on his top teeth and begining to stand up and waddle around (with assistance from the coffee table, couch, crib and anything he can get his hands on). Phil just started training for a Supervisor position at his work and has earned Sophmore status at school. I've been busy keeping up with the little one and working on the weekends. It's been a busy couple of months, but what's new? Anyway, I'm sure either Phil or I will be updating the blog again soon. Until then, have a merry Christmas! We love you all.

Tommy's First Foods, My Birthday, and Halloween Fun!

Hey everyone! I know it has been forever, but I've finally managed to find the time to post some more pictures and information. Things have been crazy around here! Phil is going to school full time and working full time; I'm working on the weekends and trying to keep up with little guy the rest of the time; and all the while we still manage to do the dishes and mow the lawn. We're miracle workers if you ask me :D
So, in the last 3 months a lot has happened. Thomas has his first tooth! His outer left mandibular incisor...in case you were wondering. He is also sitting all by himself, scooting across the floor, and mastering the art of a sippy cup.
October was full of activities. We tried on our two costume choices (Phil and I bought the pumpkin suit last year, before Thomas was even born), carved pumpkins, and celebrated my birthday. I've posted pictures below of Tommy's adventures in solid food, as well as various pictures taken throughout the last month or so...enjoy!

Busted trying to snatch my cinammon roll up while I was away...look at that guilty expression!

He really likes carrots!

For my birthday I went to the Anniversary Inn with Phil. It's a luxury hotel with themed suites. This picture was taken in the Romeo and Juliet suite. We were participating in a murder mystery game! It was a blast-Phil ended up being the murderer in the end.

That's one good looking muderer! :D

We stayed in the Red Rock Canyon suite. It was amazing!

Needless to say...it was VERY relaxing!

BACK TO BEING MOM AND DAD

This, is Thomas.

This, is Thomas and his giant pumpkin.

This, is me carving the pumpkin.

And...this is Thomas trying to eat the pumpkin!

Speaking of pumpkins...

We bought the pumpkin costume last october and Thomas barely fits into it. So we decided to go with my sister Danielle's gift, a dalmation costume.

That's all for now, I'll be sure to post more soon.

Tommy Time!

Below is a huge amount of photos to check out. Thomas is 12-13 weeks in these photos. He's now teething, and making every day an adveture. He's working on sitting up, and has fully mastered the art of eye contact. Here you go!
